1. Scope and provider
These terms apply to VolumeKeys provided by Studiomood Ltd, Tagm gonia demetriou pouliou & Kost. Pantelidi, MELNA COUTR, 8011, Paphos, Cyprus, registration number HE 495191.
For purchases, Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and contractual seller for payment, tax, invoicing and refund administration. The seller and binding checkout terms are identified before you place the order. Studiomood Ltd remains the software developer and licensor.
The purchase transaction is also governed by the Lemon Squeezy Buyer Terms presented at checkout. Those buyer terms govern the sales transaction; these Terms and the License Terms govern the trial, software license and use of VolumeKeys, subject to mandatory law and the binding checkout information.
2. Seven-day trial
The trial provides access to the current VolumeKeys feature set for seven days so you can test your own Mac, operating system, interface or compatible display and driver. The trial is intended once per Mac installation and may use a pseudonymous device entitlement to prevent repeated trials.
No purchase is required for the trial. Internet access is required to obtain and activate it; normal audio processing remains local.
The seven-day period begins when the app establishes its first working audio connection on that Mac, not at download or installation.
3. Order, price and payment
Website buttons open the Lemon Squeezy checkout. The binding product, seller, total price, currency, taxes and available payment methods are displayed there before the final order button. Review them before ordering. A contract is formed when the checkout accepts the order and sends confirmation.
Unless the checkout expressly states otherwise, the license is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. No recurring charge is created by the VolumeKeys product described here.
4. Digital delivery and activation
VolumeKeys is supplied digitally. Delivery instructions, download access and any license key are provided electronically after successful payment. You are responsible for keeping the purchase email and license key secure and for entering an accurate email address.
A paid entitlement may be bound to one active personal Mac at a time. The detailed usage rights and transfer procedure are in the License Terms.
5. Consumer withdrawal and refunds
If you are an EEA consumer, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. For digital content supplied immediately, that right can end once supply begins only if you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge the loss of the withdrawal right. The checkout must obtain that consent separately where the law requires it.
This does not remove statutory rights where digital content is defective, not as described or not supplied. Refund requests are handled through the merchant of record and any mandatory local rights continue to apply. Nothing in these terms limits a right that cannot lawfully be limited.
To exercise a withdrawal right or request a refund, use the seller contact in your Lemon Squeezy receipt or its buyer support route. You may also email [email protected] and we will help route the request; to protect a deadline, notify the contractual seller identified in your receipt directly.
Instructions and a non-mandatory model form are available on our Withdrawal & refunds page. That summary does not replace the seller’s checkout information, order confirmation or any stronger mandatory local right.
6. System requirements and compatibility
VolumeKeys is built with a minimum deployment target of macOS 14.2 and is intended for the Apple silicon and Intel builds stated on the product page. A deployment target is a build fact, not a promise that every macOS release or Mac configuration has been physically verified. External audio hardware, displays, vendor drivers, aggregate devices and DAW configurations differ. A listed class of output is not a promise that every individual device or routing setup will work.
Use the seven-day trial as the final compatibility check for your exact setup before purchasing. Compatibility statements describe the current version and can change when Apple or a hardware vendor changes its software.
An interface guide records one independent reference setup. It is not a manufacturer certification, approval, recommendation or warranty. Manufacturer and model names are used only to identify the referenced third-party hardware.
7. Intended use and responsible listening
VolumeKeys is a general-purpose macOS audio utility. It is not designed, certified or intended for medical, life-support, emergency, alarm, hearing-protection, public-address or other safety-critical use, or for any environment in which a delayed, missing, misrouted or unexpected audio signal could reasonably cause death, personal injury, property damage or environmental damage.
VolumeKeys controls a digital signal within the Mac audio path. It does not measure or limit acoustic sound-pressure level, analog output gain, amplifier power or the operating limits of connected interfaces, headphones, speakers or displays. A digital unity limit is not a hearing-protection or equipment-protection system and does not guarantee that clipping, noise, sudden level changes, malfunction, hearing injury or equipment damage cannot occur.
Before first use, and after changing or updating VolumeKeys, macOS, a driver, device, output pair, sample rate or buffer setting, reduce the physical interface, amplifier or monitor level; verify the selected target and output; and raise the listening level gradually. Stop playback, mute or power down the downstream equipment if you hear abnormal audio or observe unexpected level, routing, repeated reconnection or instability. You remain responsible for physical gain settings, cabling, routing, monitoring conditions and compliance with the documentation and limits of all connected equipment.
8. Third-party systems and availability
VolumeKeys depends on systems outside Studiomood Ltd's control, including macOS, Core Audio, Apple hardware, third-party interfaces, displays, drivers, firmware, DAWs, plug-ins and network, licensing and payment services. Their behaviour, availability and compatibility can change without notice. Studiomood Ltd does not operate, control or warrant those third-party systems.
The trial helps you assess the current version with your present setup; it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted, error-free or perpetual operation, future operating-system or driver compatibility, or compatibility with every device, route or workflow. Except where mandatory law requires otherwise, temporary interruption, maintenance, correction, withdrawal of an unsafe build or discontinuation of an optional network feature does not create a promise of continuous availability.
Website content, documentation, examples, compatibility records, interface photographs, demonstrations and links are provided for general product information. They do not constitute professional audio-engineering, hearing-safety, equipment-protection, legal, tax, regulatory or other professional advice; do not replace the documentation for your Mac and connected equipment; and do not create a warranty beyond an express statement in the binding checkout information or these terms. A third-party name, link or compatibility record does not mean that the third party endorses VolumeKeys or that Studiomood Ltd controls its product or website.
9. Updates and service changes
We may provide fixes, compatibility updates and security changes. Where consumer law requires updates necessary to keep digital content in conformity, those obligations apply. A one-time purchase does not promise every future feature, perpetual support for future operating systems, or a specific support period beyond mandatory law and any express checkout promise.
Install safety, compatibility and security updates within a reasonable time after they are made available and follow any critical-use notice. We may suspend distribution or activation of a build where reasonably necessary to investigate a safety, security, licensing or legal issue. We may discontinue network services only subject to existing contractual and mandatory legal obligations. A paid license is designed for normal offline use after valid activation, subject to its local license state and technical requirements.
10. Acceptable use
You must not share or sell a license key, bypass activation or trial controls, interfere with the entitlement service, use the software unlawfully, or reverse engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits and cannot be excluded by contract.
You must not use VolumeKeys as the sole control, warning or protective mechanism in a safety-critical system, intentionally use it to create harmful sound levels, or continue using a configuration after an abnormal or unsafe condition becomes apparent.
VolumeKeys does not provide professional audio-engineering, hearing-safety, equipment-protection, medical, legal, compliance or risk-management advice. You are responsible for deciding whether the software, connected equipment and operating conditions are suitable for your intended use and for maintaining independent safeguards appropriate to that use.
11. Additional terms for business users
This section applies only where you acquire or use VolumeKeys wholly or mainly for a trade, business, craft or profession and are not acting as a consumer. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VolumeKeys, the trial, the website, support and related documentation are provided "as is" and "as available". Studiomood Ltd excludes all conditions, warranties and representations that are not expressly stated in these terms, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, results, uninterrupted or error-free operation, absence of harmful components, security against every attack, and compatibility with a particular workflow, device or third-party system.
You are responsible for evaluating VolumeKeys before production use, maintaining recoverable backups, keeping an independent way to mute or reduce physical output, supervising critical sessions and implementing reasonable business-continuity, cybersecurity and equipment-protection measures. You must not rely on VolumeKeys as the only control for a live event, broadcast, recording, performance, installation or other time-critical workflow. Trial access, a demonstration, a compatibility record or a successful past session does not replace your own testing after changes to software, hardware, routing or operating conditions. Studiomood Ltd has no duty to inspect, monitor, supervise or approve your equipment, gain staging, route, operating environment, downstream users or compliance obligations.
Except for statements expressly included in these terms or the binding checkout information, you do not rely on an estimate, forecast, illustration, demonstration, compatibility expectation, roadmap, oral statement or other representation when entering the business contract. Nothing in this paragraph excludes liability for fraud or another liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Studiomood Ltd and its directors, officers, employees, contractors and licensors from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments and reasonable external legal and investigation costs arising from your: (a) unlawful redistribution, sublicense or modification of VolumeKeys; (b) deliberate circumvention of its controls; (c) use in a prohibited safety-critical application; (d) combination with a system or workflow where you knew or should reasonably have known that an audio failure could cause injury or property damage; (e) infringement of third-party rights; (f) failure to give downstream operators the relevant safety instructions; or (g) material breach of these terms. This indemnity applies only to the extent caused by those matters and not to the extent caused by Studiomood Ltd's own breach, defect or liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Studiomood Ltd must give reasonable notice of a covered claim and allow reasonable participation in its defence; no settlement may admit fault or impose a non-monetary obligation on an indemnified person without that person's consent.
12. Liability
Liability that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; wilful misconduct; gross negligence where it cannot lawfully be limited; death or personal injury caused by negligence where it cannot lawfully be limited; mandatory product liability; breach of mandatory consumer, digital-content, privacy or data-protection law; or any other liability, right or remedy that applicable law does not allow the parties to exclude or limit.
Consumers. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights and remedies remain unaffected. Subject to those rights and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Studiomood Ltd is not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, for business loss arising from consumer use, or for loss caused by your misuse, prohibited use, failure to follow instructions, unreasonable continuation after an abnormal condition, unauthorised modification, or a third-party system outside Studiomood Ltd's reasonable control.
Business remedies. For a business user and subject to non-excludable law, Studiomood Ltd may choose to investigate, reperform support, provide a correction, update, replacement or reasonable workaround, or refund the amount paid for the affected license. These are the exclusive contractual remedies for a defective or unavailable business license to the extent applicable law permits. If a remedy cannot lawfully be exclusive or fails of its essential purpose, the exclusions and aggregate cap below still apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Business exclusions. For business users, subject to the non-excludable liabilities above and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Studiomood Ltd is not liable in contract, tort (including negligence), misrepresentation, restitution, breach of statutory duty, indemnity, contribution or otherwise for any of the following, whether direct or indirect and whether or not foreseeable or disclosed in advance: (a) incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential loss; (b) loss of profit, revenue, turnover, business, production, contracts, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill, reputation, personnel time or management time; (c) interruption, downtime, delay, failed or repeated work, loss of use, lost recording or performance time, or loss arising from a live event, broadcast, stream, session, installation, deadline or release; (d) loss, corruption, disclosure, alteration, restoration or replacement of data, audio, projects, recordings, presets, configurations, credentials or backups; (e) the cost of substitute software, services, personnel or hardware, or of inspection, diagnosis, removal, installation, repair, replacement, recall, re-recording, reproduction, remediation or recovery; (f) damage to, loss of or incompatibility with an interface, display, computer, storage device, amplifier, headphones, speakers, monitors, cabling or other equipment, except to the extent covered by non-excludable product or property-damage liability; (g) hearing discomfort, acoustic disturbance, nuisance, loss of quiet enjoyment or business property loss, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded; (h) a claim, demand, penalty, fine, chargeback or liability asserted against you by a customer, collaborator, audience member, employee, contractor, authority or other third party; (i) incorrect target, route, channel, output-pair, buffer, sample-rate, gain or physical-level selection; (j) unauthorised modification, unsupported configuration, failure to install an available safety or compatibility update, failure to follow instructions, or continued use after abnormal audio or instability becomes apparent; or (k) any act, omission, change, outage, discontinuation, defect or incompatibility of Apple, macOS, Core Audio, hardware, firmware, a driver vendor, a DAW, a plug-in, a network, Cloudflare, Lemon Squeezy, a payment provider or another third-party product or service.
The exclusions in the preceding paragraph also cover: (l) malware, malicious interference, cyberattack, denial of service, unauthorised access or another hostile third-party act that Studiomood Ltd could not reasonably prevent, without limiting any mandatory security or data-protection duty; (m) failure to satisfy a law, regulation, industry rule, contractual delivery standard, broadcast standard, accessibility requirement or internal policy applicable to your business or project; (n) suspension, withdrawal, replacement, rollback, non-availability or delayed availability of a build, activation, update, download, optional feature or support response; or (o) reliance on free website content, documentation, examples, estimated compatibility, demonstrations, translations or third-party links outside an express binding warranty.
Business cap. Subject to the non-excludable liabilities above, Studiomood Ltd's total aggregate liability to a business user for all claims arising out of or relating to VolumeKeys, the website, the trial, a license, support, an update or these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (i) the total amount actually paid by that user for VolumeKeys during the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the first claim and (ii) EUR 100. The cap applies regardless of the number of events, users, devices, licenses, legal theories, demands or proceedings. Connected, repeated or continuing events and claims are treated as one event. The cap applies collectively to Studiomood Ltd and all protected persons identified below, even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose or a protected person was advised that loss was possible.
Protected persons and no personal recourse. The exclusions, defences and cap in this section protect Studiomood Ltd's current and former directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, service providers and affiliates as well as the company. To the fullest extent permitted by law, a business user agrees that contractual claims concerning VolumeKeys will be brought only against Studiomood Ltd and not personally against a protected person. This does not protect a person from that person's own fraud, wilful misconduct, independently actionable wrong or other personal liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Loss reduction and events outside control. Liability is reduced to the extent that loss was caused or increased by the claimant's act or omission, failure to mitigate, failure to keep recoverable backups, failure to maintain an independent physical mute or level control, failure to follow the responsible-use requirements, or use by another person for whom the claimant is responsible. Studiomood Ltd is not liable for delay or failure caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, including failure of utilities, communications, platform services, supply chains or public authorities, but this does not remove mandatory duties or remedies.
Events beyond reasonable control may include natural disaster, fire, flood, epidemic, war, civil disturbance, labour dispute or cyberattack.
No double recovery. A claimant may not recover more than once for the same loss. Refunds, credits, insurance proceeds, recoveries from another person and avoided costs must be taken into account to the extent permitted by law.
Business claim period. To the extent permitted by applicable law, a business user must give Studiomood Ltd reasonably detailed written notice of a claim without undue delay after becoming aware of it and commence formal proceedings within twelve months after that date. This paragraph does not apply where a statutory limitation period cannot lawfully be shortened.
Risk allocation. The business price reflects the allocation of risk in these terms. Each exclusion, remedy and limitation is separate and applies independently to the maximum lawful extent. Provisions concerning restrictions, ownership, indemnity, liability, disputes and accrued payment obligations survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without excluding mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where a consumer habitually resides. Consumers may bring proceedings in the courts available under mandatory jurisdiction rules. Business users submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Cyprus, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it is to be applied to the maximum lawful extent and, where possible, modified only as much as necessary to make it enforceable; the remaining provisions continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, the License Terms and the binding checkout information form the agreement concerning VolumeKeys, subject always to mandatory law.
